Indian T20 vice-captain Shubman Gill became the leading run-getter in international cricket in 2025, surpassing Joe Root as he got off the mark in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan on Sunday, September 28, in Dubai. Gill required a couple of runs to get to the feat and did so on the first ball he faced, on the final ball of the first over, bowled by Shaheen Afridi as he surpassed Root's tally of 1,350 runs.
